Welcome to the i2i Farnham Training Centre
Conveniently located in Farnham, Surrey, just off the A31 and a short distance from Farnham station, Weydon School is a highly-rated local secondary school, which serves both as an i2i Teaching Partnership training centre for both our Primary and Secondary teacher training programmes, and as our administrative hub.
Since 2012, Weydon School has been the lead school for the i2i Teaching Partnership, home to the Weydon Training Centre and the i2i core team. Continued success led to the redevelopment of a new dedicated training and office space in 2022, and the Weydon Training Centre is now home to over 40 trainee teachers each year.

Our Programme Structure
As an i2i Farnham Centre trainee, you’ll experience a dynamic blend of high-quality training and real classroom practice. Each week, you’ll spend one day at our Farnham Training Centre at Weydon School and four days in your placement school, giving you the perfect balance of theory and hands-on experience.
Expert Training
Your weekly Pedagogical and Professional Studies sessions are interactive, research-informed, and designed to build both your theoretical understanding of teaching and your practical skills. Through these sessions, you will deepen your knowledge of pedagogy, strengthen your analytical and critical thinking abilities, and develop the reflective habits essential for effective teaching.

Training with i2i means joining a warm and collaborative community. Your centre-based days provide a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow trainees, share experiences, and build a strong support network that will stay with you throughout your training journey.
Learning in Schools from Day One
From your very first days on the i2i programme, you will be actively involved in your placement school, making a real and immediate difference. You will begin by observing and shadowing experienced colleagues, gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence grows—planning lessons, leading learning, and applying the knowledge gained during your training days.
Tailored Placements
Your main placement school is carefully selected with your needs in mind. We consider a range of factors, including your location and, importantly, the availability of a highly skilled Mentor who will guide, challenge and support you every step of the way. This personalised approach ensures you receive the individual attention and encouragement you need to thrive.

Meet The Team
Catherine Tighe
Farnham Centre Director
Catherine has over 14 years of teaching experience, having worked across a range of educational settings in the UK. She has held a variety of leadership positions, including Head of Department, Head of Faculty, and is currently serving as an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Staff Development. These roles have deepened her commitment to supporting teachers at every stage of their career and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Catherine’s passion for education is rooted in a strong belief in social mobility—that every child, regardless of their starting point, deserves an exceptional teacher. She holds firm to the conviction that a great teacher can transform lives, and this belief underpins her work with colleagues and students alike.
Tammy Cresswell
Farnham Centre Operational Lead
Tammy joined i2i Teaching Partnership in 2013 when the Teaching School journey was beginning, and has been an integral part of the team ever since. Tammy uses her extensive organisational and administrative skills to support the partnership in all operational matters, and hers is the cheery voice you will probably hear when you call the department.
Her knowledge and experience is invaluable; Ofsted described her as “gold-dust” and our Trainees hugely appreciate her endless support and sunny personality.. Tammy loves working with each cohort of Trainees, supporting them on their journey to becoming amazing teachers.
