Conveniently located in Farnham, Surrey, just off the A31 and a short distance from Farnham station, Weydon School is a highly-rated local secondary school, which serves both as an i2i Teaching Partnership training centre and our administrative hub.
Since 2012, Weydon School has been the lead school for the i2i Teaching Partnership, home to the Weydon Training Centre and the i2i core team. Continued success has led to the redevelopment of a new dedicated training and office space in 2022, and the Weydon Training Centre is now home to over 40 trainee teachers each year. As an i2i Weydon Centre Trainee, each week you will spend one day at the Weydon training centre and four days in your placement school (for the first six weeks of the programme you will spend 2 days a week at the training centre and 3 days in your placement school).
Your weekly Pedagogical and Professional Studies interactive sessions will teach you the theory of teaching (pedagogy), as well as develop your critical thinking, analytical and research skills, and are a great opportunity to build your support network with your fellow trainees.
From the very start of the i2i programme you will be in your placement school making a difference. From shadowing and observing at the start to gradually taking responsibility for planning and delivering lessons, you will be implementing the theoretical knowledge taught during your weekly professional studies training days. Your main placement school is selected based on a number of factors, including most importantly where you live, and the availability of a suitable Mentor to support and guide you.

Amy has been in education for over 20 years, teaching English in a range of schools in Australia, Scotland and England. For the last few years Amy has held roles in senior leadership. She loves instilling curiosity and a love of learning amongst both her students in the classroom and her teacher trainees. Amy’s broad experience makes her highly qualified to lead and deliver the trainees' professional and pedagogical curriculum at our Weydon Training Centres, as well as support the i2i team of Subject Lead Mentors.
Amy says the best element of her job is “To be in a role that shapes and empowers the next generation of teachers. I love it when I am able to embrace the moments when trainees’ curiosity is piqued so they are not only learning but questioning and debating academic research.” Amy believes that supporting trainees to grow in confidence and achieve their potential allows her to give back to the educational community and create a legacy of ongoing excellence as these trainees become the next leaders of the profession.
Tammy Cresswell
Weydon Centre Operational Lead
Tammy joined i2i Teaching Partnership in 2013 when the Teaching School journey was beginning, and has been an integral part of the team ever since. Tammy uses her extensive organisational and administrative skills to support the partnership in all operational matters, and hers is the cheery voice you will probably hear when you call the department.
Her knowledge and experience is invaluable; Ofsted described her as “gold-dust” and our Trainees hugely appreciate her endless support and sunny personality.. Tammy loves working with each cohort of Trainees, supporting them on their journey to becoming amazing teachers.
